America’s Best Idea: The National Parks

For those seeking to replenish their spirit, a visit to one of our National Parks this summer can be an awakening unlike any other experience. It’s in our DNA from long ago, when we were not so separated from nature. There is a feeling of going home, to where we came from in nature.
Living just down the road from the entrance to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone, I never grow tired of the ever changing mountain vistas as the seasons change. Very few people can spend a day at one of our National Parks and not feel inspired by the experience.
As our nation’s first National Park, established in 1872, Yellowstone holds a treasure chest of nature’s superlatives. Visitors of all ages are reconnecting to nature by touring Yellowstone this summer.
If you are not familiar with the history of how our national park system was created, “The National Parks-America’s Best Idea”, a PBS documentary by film maker Ken Burns, is an amazing collection of stories. Visit: http://www.pbs.org/nationalparks
Spending time in one of our National Parks, after knowing the sacrifice that went into its creation emboldens you to dream about the possibilities in life, by having a genuine link to nature, a link we all share in our DNA.
